Four Ways to Use the NEW Soft Pastels Assortment

I genuinely squealed when I saw the new Soft Pastels Assortment in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue! Pastels are a colour and technique product, all in one. I knew from my experience with pastels I've used in the past, that these were a must have item for me!

Episode 38 of "Why Did I Buy This?" featured these new pastels. Be sure to watch the video to see 4 different techniques that can be done with these versatile chalks.

I was reminded of a technique that I learned 18 years ago, when I was a new Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. The technique is called "Poppin' Pastels" and is kind of magic.

Start by stamping an image in Versamark Ink. Then you can colour over the stamped image using the Soft Pastels. The chalk will stick to the Versamark and make the image "pop" in the colour that you've used! It's really fun!

The "Thanks" was stamped in Versamark and I used the Bermuda Bay Pastel over the image to get the effect on this card. I inked the "friend" stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped over the pastel image to get the overlapping effect.

Have you tried the Soft Pastels Assortment yet? At only $12.25 for 8 colours, they are an affordable way to get some of Stampin' Up!'s most popular colours in hand.

Have fun crafting!
