Stamping Sunday Blog Hop - Paper Players

Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop! I'm Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our Stamping Sunday Team shares projects on a specific theme and this month our projects highlight paper.

Hands up if you LOVE paper!!

I love Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper (DSP) and this month is a very special month as our new Annual Catalogue papers are 15% off!

I wanted to share a project showcasing my FAVOURITE DSP, the Zoo Crew, 12x12" Designer Series Paper (161304). This paper has both the versatility of black and white patterns which are easy to use on any project, but also ADORABLE line-drawn animal characters which are easy to fussy cut and use as a focal point.

The layout for this card was inspired by a project Paula Dobson shared in 2022. I loved the colour blocking template she shared and I used a technique of using my Clear Blocks as stamps to create the colour blocking background here.

I used the Clear Block B as a stamp by inking it up in Petal Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Lost Lagoon respectively. Before stamping, I sprayed the ink with rubbing alcohol. This allows the ink to spread evenly when stamped on Basic White Cardstock. I then used the coordinating ink refill and made a puddle on a pallet. I took my wide Water Painter and picked up the ink to create the splatter over each of the colour blocked images on the card front. This makes for a fun, textured background for each of the focal images.

Each of the nature images were fussy cut from the Zoo Crew DSP and the cardstock details were cut from the Zany Zoo Dies.

This card is a Father's Day card for my wonderful husband Bruce. We love hiking and the outdoors and the DSP is perfect to celebrate him!
