Totally Techniques - Blackout Embossing

Welcome to the Totally techniques Blog Hop! My name is Lynsay Mahon and I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our team chooses a technique to showcase and we each share our projects. This month, we are showcasing a very fun technique called "Blackout Embossing."

I loved this technique. What you need to make it work are:

  • an embossing folder, preferably with images
  • Memento Black ink
  • a brayer
  • 2-3 coloured inks
  • Sponge Daubers

I was really pleased with how well this technique comes together. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Emboss a Basic White piece of cardstock. I used the Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder

Step 2: on the reverse side of the image, use sponge daubers to colour in the indent. I used Old Olive and Lost Lagoon.

Step 3: Use a brayer with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and brayer over the background until it is covered.

Step 4: Decorate your card front.

I love how much texture there is!

Be sure to hop along with the rest of the team to see more projects using this technique!
