Totally Techniques Blog Hop - Block Stamping
Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! We are an international team of paper crafters who love to share inspiration through techniques! Each month our team chooses a technique to showcase and we share projects to inspire you!
My name is Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This month, we’re showcasing “Block Stamping.” Who would have thought that the tool we use to mount stamps, can make its own magic?
Stampin’ Up! Clear Blocks come in many sizes. They are very useful for mounting both photopolymer and cling stamps. Think of them as the “handle” for stamping.
They can make an amazing palette for watercolour techniques and even can be used as a stamp themselves! Who knew they were so versatile?
I used my E Block to create the watercolour effect that you see on this card. It is easy to do and every time you try it, you’ll get a different background!
Here are 4 easy steps to achieve the “Block Stamping” Technique:
Using a Clear Block as your palette, apply the ink pad directly to the block, being mindful to not overlap the colours. On this project I used Darling Duckling, Strawberry Slush and Lemon Lolly Classic Ink.
Spritz the block with water until all of the ink is wet. Flip the block and “stamp” it onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper by Stampin’ Up!
Allow to air dry or use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process.
Ink the image with Memento Ink and stamp onto the dried paper.
I’m really enjoying using the new Extraordinary Flora Bundle (165245). Once I had created the background, I stamped the floral stamp onto the dried paper and used the coordinating die to cut out the flower images. Watch the video below to see how I created a template to position the images with precision and get the even spacing you see on this project.
