Totally Techniques | Watercolor Stamping
Techniques are a part of paper crafting that adds magic to your project. I’m Lynsay Mahon and welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! Each month our team shares hand picked techniques and projects to help you make your next paper crafted project. Each of our designers shares a hand made creation featuring the technique with ideas to inspire YOU!
This month’s technique features something that I LOVE: watercoloring! Whether you’re new to watercoloring or have a lot of practice with it, the Watercolor Stamping technique is sure to become a favourite for you. Not only is it easy to do, but it turns every project into a work of art!
Perfectly Pears Bundle By Stampin’ Up!
The Watercolor Stamping Technique just needs a few supplies. You’ll need:
Water-based ink pads (Stampin’ Up!’s Classic ink pads are perfect for this.
Stamp set (bold stamps work the best, such as the Perfectly Pears Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!).
Water spritzer.
Basic White Cardstock or Fluid 100 Watercolor paper.
You can find the exact products I used on this card below.
Here’s how you can easily recreate the Watercolor Stamping Technique:
Ink a solid stamp in your lightest colour. For this project I stamped the pears in Darling Duckling.
Using a Sponge Dauber, apply a darker colour of ink to the stamp. I applied Old Olive to the bottom edges of the pears.
Spritz water onto the stamp until the ink blends.
Stamp image onto Basic White Cardstock or Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Allow to dry.
This technique works so well on bold flower images, balloons, leaves and more! What stamps are you going to try it on?
